Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Safaricom Decode Summit Community Guidelines! This page outlines our expectations for all participants to ensure a positive and respectful environment. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these guidelines to foster collaboration, inclusivity, and constructive engagement within our community. Together, let's create an atmosphere that promotes learning, networking, and meaningful connections.

What are the values that we expect of our community and those who engage?

  • Respecting differences of opinion - just because someone holds a different viewpoint from your own, does not mean that they are wrong
  • Making a conscious effort to include people who differ from you
  • Remembering that people have varying communication styles different from your own
  • Showing a willingness to understand more about the experiences of others
  • Asking questions to understand
  • Listening with purpose - seek to understand before being understood
  • Conducting yourself professionally and be kind to others
  • Showing understanding for another person's situation and emotions
  • Assuming good intent and interpret others' statements or questions in good faith
  • Fostering environments that allow all members to feel connected to each other and the community
  • Promoting a friendly atmosphere where people feel comfortable asking questions, participating in discussions, and making contributions
  • Thinking about how others will interpret your words - productive, clear communication requires effort
  • Being aware of your strengths and weaknesses and how your own behavior and reactions influence others emotions and actions
  • Sometimes, it is best to pause before commenting or reacting immediately to feedback or constructive criticism
  • We tend to make mistakes
